Thomas first appeared in the Lovell Directory as a tailor in 1848 and was there for 37 years. Most of the time he worked from his home at 146 Prince but did open a store at 60 James for a few years. He died at the age of 72 and was buried at Notre Dame Cemetery In Montreal.
